Case Study

In-Field Piping Repair

Due to an unplanned incident, an underground 42”NB pipeline was damaged.  The line was bent and the resultant incident had resulted in the line becoming kinked raising concerns over its integrity.

Durham Engineering was contracted to develop a design methodology that could be installed on site at a remote location that could ensure its ongoing operation.

In addition, due to the remote location, the geometry could not be fully verified until it was excavated.  This mean that the developed design would need to consider flexibility in geometry to allow for the site contractor to effectively install the repair.

The design was essentially a bespoke design that utilised the ASME VIII and piping design codes to ensure legislative compliance and the on-site repair was conducted without issue.
